Life was hard in 18th century Austria, and faith in God (I capitalize out of respect for those who believe) was a coping mechanism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Singer\/musician Anja Plaschg (no idea how to pronounce this mouth-full of consonants) is perfectly cast in this, her first acting gig. A young woman enters into marriage with a heart full of optimism, only to be slowly driven to despair by an [indifferent] husband and his over-bearing mother. Not for the faint-of-heart, but hard to look away.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt29141112\/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"44\" height=\"20\" src=\"https:\/\/newscreen.richardlohr.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/imdb.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wasn&#8217;t expecting a crowd for this one, to say the least, but this beautiful movie had me under its devilish spell at first sight.
