It&#8217;s not like you&#8217;d notice though&#8230;  with <em>The Favourite<\/em>, Lanthimos once again demonstrates his prowess for quirky, dark humor. Beautifully shot by Robbie Ryan (<em>American Honey<\/em>, <em>I, Daniel Blake<\/em>), and wonderfully acted by Coleman, Weiss and Stone, <em>The Favourite<\/em> delighted our audience. Except for one&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For some reason, this movie drives my puppy, Tick, absolutely crazy. He&#8217;s always been sensitive to animals and loud noises on the screen, but not on this scale. Even the opening credits cause him to start growling, and any act of violence, gunshot, or animal provokes outbusts of barking. I hope he wasn&#8217;t too much of a distraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tonight&#8217;s short feature was the rather naughty <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/channels\/staffpicks\/321169750\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"1980YEN - Takoyaki Story (opens in a new tab)\">1980YEN &#8211; Takoyaki Story<\/a>, directed by Sawako Kabuki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt5083738\/?ref_=ttcrv_crv_tt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"44\" height=\"20\" src=\"https:\/\/newscreen.richardlohr.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/imdb.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-43\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the first time in his movie-making career, Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos is not credited as a writer.
